Gove Chromie

Post by meter_seeker »

Its been a fortnight since my last post on the activity around the wharf,
neaps have never proved productive so gave it a miss for this weeks bigger tides  . As always I tend to get more action with that extra movement, within the first hour got 3 solid hook ups and several follows, but as I persisted I finally raked the award  . Landed this solid 94cm chrome barra not to long ago 8-) , kinda chucked it in after that. Was pretty happy, surely worked hard for it  .

Fish was caught on once again the same lure as the week before, an F18 dazzler on 60pound penn leader, 50pound finns braid, 200 calcutta on a shimano barra mauler 2 piece raider rod.

I've seen a few get around, hooked a couple in the past I reckon, lost
a biggun at my feet a couple of weeks back. You really gotta work hard
for them though, there so placid it takes quite alot of casts to entice one
to snap your lure. Same goes with trolling a snag or hole, you know their
there, you can see them on the sounder, all a matter of persisting and 9
times out of 10 you'll jag one.

I have my leader protected with some very fine clear rubber tube, thats
been stretched over time so its straight, makes easier to feed it through. Has worked well, anything under 60 pound becomes harder to feed through though. But ive always been a fan of the penn leader ive found it to be the best against abrasion.

Thanks fellow fisho's for the replies its always appreciated
