slack line...

Post by 2rods »

While fishing with faulksy in the west we got some great pic's and in some of them you can see the line going slack when the fish re enters the water after a jump ect.... have a close look and you will see what I mean.

Hey 2Rods,
Thanks for posting these shots, they are a perfect example of why mono and circle hooks are the way to go on the Billies. We have knocked over a few small Sails on braid but anything larger seems to be better on mono as the stretch can act as both a shock absorber and to keep a little pressure on the hook during jumps and fast direction changes.
Cheers,

i don't know what reels your running 2Rods, but i'd keep half the braid on and top-shot it with your mono say a couple of hundred metres...i do this with my tiagra 50 wides, but im using dacron.. no need to waste it, the s...ts expensive enough as it is, plus you get more line on your reel, cause you never know when that decent little black might come through your spread...

Dont use em on pushers just on ur bait. But then we only switch bait. Only use pushers to get the fish up in the spread.

Not got a gut hooked fish on a pusher yet... all had been on bait. Even circles gut hook sometimes.

Yep they sure do dodgy.
We have had two sails hooked down in the troat so far with Inline circles. They are brilliant when they do hit the jaw hinge though and I have not had one throw the hook once its in properly. It makes for easy releases when they are in the jaw hinge.

You dropping baits down faulksy or slow trolling them? If ya sitting idle try bridle rigging the livies n see how you go as this will put the hook up higher in the jaw.
Almost forgot 2rods didnt you listen to me in timor about fu*king of the braid.
