Thought this was interesting ... perhaps it is backing up against mountain ranges.

Yeah the rainfall on the coastal side of the range is way higher- the hills behind Coffs climb from the headlands to 800m. Coffs annual rainfall is 1700mm just behind at Glen Innes it's way under 1000. Cool looking pic though

Must be climate change. Seems the cyclones are heading south next week.

That cyclone track is interesting, maybe Tassie will get some. Windy doesn't predict that far out though, bugger, haha.
The storm line hugging the coast is similar to what happens where I am, the high country catches the rain, just as you said Jack, we have big systems come from the northwest but the high country takes out 90% of the rain.

Port Macquarie got 142mm yesterday. Way too rough for rock fishing

Those bl..dy Greens, first they caused the unprecedented fires, now they are causing flooding ... https://twitter.com/hashtag/sydneystorm?src=hash
I don't know how they caused the flooding, but we'll be told soon enough.
(Sarcasm)
Weather is still hugging the East Coast, might be the presence of most of the radars on the coast that make it look that way.
