Just bumping this, as rumour is that the closures have not worked, at least in rejuvenating the golden snapper stock within the closed areas.

More will be revealed at the AFANT meeting on March 28.

Anecdotally, plenty of people are telling me they are catching snapper off Darwin, so the situation does not seem to be dire. It will be interesting to hear the Fisheries analysis.

I could start a tagging business in the harbour itself for Goldies there are that many.

There are spots that we go as a last resort when the Barra let me down and 4 of us can bag out in 15 minutes flat. They're not huge though, 30-40cm and we only ever fish for a feed.

Don't know if they have but no harm in having reef closures, another survey question could be "have the NT new bag limits worked?"
