yep almost any afternoon sitting at the Ski club is a laugh.
I saw 3 dingbats try to retrieve a 4.5m dingy from the long flat section of the boat ramp, while 2 foot chop rolled in from a seabreeze. it's crazy to retrieve there when the tide is at the wrong hight - here's why -
back the trailer down- check
start winching it on the trailer - check
nose of the boat rises up on top of the first roller - check
transom lower in the water now and hits the concrete- check
wave rolls in over the transom and swamps the boat - check
boat too heavy to winch on trailer - check
boat now completely swamped from 10 more waves - check
tide has risen and is now up to the doors of the 4x4 - check
drive up the ramp dragging dingy over the rough concrete for 20m - CHECKMATE!
I've nearly lost my boat off the trailer going up the ramp, but no one was watching so it didn't happen
