Never crabbed up here, but had my one and only cray pot stolen when I lived in Tassie, put it in for the first time hoping to get a feed only to come back the next day..............gone

People who lift other peoples pots are the lowest form of scum in my opinion    No need to do it, if you didn't put it there, leave it alone

i would say most people have been the victim of share farming at some stage and dont even realise. i caught a bloke lifting my pots back in QLD and almost got myself in a whole lot of trouble for it. we where hiding in a side creek fishing for bream when this a,,hole started to lift my pot  needless to say that a few rumbos had clowded my judgment and i took the "ask questions later approach" :bonk: i started the trusty 40hp and raced over flat out with all intentions of pulling up just short and abusing him :hunting: problem was i killed the gas a liitle too late and smashed the side of his boat in  no one was hurt and he never did ask me to pay for the damage but it could of ended up a lot worse

cant say that i have been raided up here yet but i am sure it will happen in time

I've had them nicked whilst crabbing and nicked from under the house when I lived in Stuart Park. Can't win a trick when it comes to pots!

I lost a few pots in Qld at Groper Creek. I had found a nice stretch of mangroves and set the pots in. Came back about an hour later and they were all gone.

We were sitting at the entrance to the creek fishing and no one had gone past. Further investigation found a bamboo poll with a hook on the end of it. The cunning buggers had pinched them without even putting a boat in the water.

Tyre tracks up closer to the bank verified how they got to them.

Yes, I have had them Raided and nicked in QLD, but so far "Touch wood" It has not happened here.
But some precautions I normally do to prevent this from happening is not to fish to far from them and try to keep them in sight, carry around some coloured cable ties to tie up the doors and to have some marks that can be identified (As I have done with the orange paint on the frame and netin the second pic) as your and to have a name plate actually stapled to the pots as in the pictures.
As this is not a sure thing way of stopping it from happening but it does deter and slow down the potential thieves.

Lost a couple in the harbour. Not totally sure it was a human nicking them though. Few crunched up be crocs.
Otherwise I generally only crab Bynoe and have the creeks to ourselves.

This is a moot point indeed!
Even when you catch someone redhanded, there's a basket of reasons they can give!
"thought it was ours"
"It looked old"
"We cast our lures here, it was in the way!"
"Your name and address is faded"
I guess if your droopping pots and moving to another area you use cable ties and take your chances. I reckon 9 out of 10 fisho's are honest.

Jimstuch, Gracie and I have been raided before. Pulling up pots only to find nuthing but flippers and claws left in the pot.

Cable ties are the best preventative measure, at least you know you have been raided.
