Who on here is using or has used these things?
Different people make them (Mann's, Rapala) but hard to buy in Aus. I couldn't find them on Ali Express but I think there was something lost in the translation.
Wobbly lure with a bib that dives about 6 inches and leaves a wake behind it on retrieve. Swims just under surface but trails a wake behind it.
Not a stick bait/walk the dog type lure.
I tried one out here last weekend. Not quite a wakebait but a close relative by Westin lures (bibles one).
Surface feeding king threadfin really liked them.
My first thought was Blackfella Ck at Roper where the barra boof everything on the whirlpool at the hairpin bend just upstream. Gotta clean up with 'em there and at the mouth.

Re: Wakebait lures
Lots of blokes use them to chase Murray cod. There's a few Aussie lure makers (FarQ and kingfisher spring to mind but there's others) that make them. Also I think zerek have some in their range. Are we talking about the jointed, long, snake-like looking critters?

Re: Wakebait lures
Hi
I know about the jointed ones but I'm playing around with the single section ones. I'll have a look at the Zerek models.
I haven't heard much about wakebaits for king or barra.
The link shows a Rapala model but @ 130mm I think its a bit big to attract interest from king.

Re: Wakebait lures
Thanks for that, Ernie.
They are exactly what I'm looking for. Feel a bit silly 'cos I looked up Yo_zuri and only found small ones.
Have you used wakebaits?
Thanks.
