Where is there any research that actually proves Goldies move from Rocky Point to the Darwin reefs in any abundance….surely there are a poop load of shoals where they breed and congregate then move on, but is it proven with tagged Goldies that they jump in the Trench and cruise 140kms to town from there….they must do a youi and go back there to die because the average one is a fair lump usually…

These rules are miles ahead of any other state

And yeah some of those who travel a long way will throw back the smaller ones over the side instead of eating them
But that doesn't mean "more fish die" that means the same amount die

And a lot of us who abide by these rules will take less snapper

Just because it won't work perfectly doesn't make it worthless.

PS. Matt, I thought mercury wasn't a problem in the estuary feeders like barra and threadies, I though you only had to worry about that with the pelagics... am I wrong?
