Its easy to slag & call people name's on a forum isn't it!

I can safely say, if that was me and my boat! and someone had called me a Dickhead or Tool (too my face) - Because i had a silly accident!

I would kick there arse all over that ramp, in front of every Fisho there!
(maybe they could slag me off later on a forum?)

I would expect more from a fellow Fisherman! - Like a helping hand!

Not much point on speculating what happened. Be nice for the real story to come out.
i originally thought that it must have been a sole boater who got caught out or something over which he had no control happened.

BUT, for 2 blokes to sit and watch their boat on the ramp is just Bizarre.

usual practice is for one to stay with the boat (usually drive it out of the way) until the trailer comes down the ramp Even if they tied off and got caught out, surely they could have pushed it back in.
Remember the big tides drop just over a metre per hr so they must have been away for a fair while.

If they were offered a helping hand, then they are real dickheads.

And no you wouldn't sit back and call someone in trouble a dickhead. You would give a hand.

Doug: "Another boat tried to tow it but the keel was stuck in the grove in the ramp"

So, they didn't refuse help!

Think you missed my point - Dickheads they are not, and don't deserve to be cowardly bashed on a forum.
They just had a bad day!

If one of the fella's went to pick the car up, and the other held or sat in the boat (Possible Inexperienced) let the boat drift round and sit in the boat ramp grove!

Lesson learned, I don't think they will do it again! :bonk:

I can't be bothered going back through and reading what I have written but I'm pretty sure I didn't call anyone a dickhead I mentioned there are some Gerkins around :) ;)
Others may have mentioned them being djckheads ..
Old mate that tried to tow them off must have been in a kayak with a dodgy paddle. :) :)

I called them dickheads.
It must have a different meaning these days to when i grew up. When your mates did something stupid, you would call them a dickhead.
Maybe i should have been politically correct and used terms such as 'poor unfortunate fellow for getting into that situation'

If there was enough water for the boat to drift up, then there was enough water for it to be pulled back.

Shouldnt be a boat owner if you get if that trouble so quick & easy...

Weve had boats stuck launching/retrieving on river banks and all sorts of stupid places... Once had the keel stuck in a similar situation...
Put the spare wheel under the hull and used the car jack to prop it free & back on trailer..

A boat ramp is a controlled luxury item.... Hate to see these guys in a serious bad situation...

Every one has to learn some where! They probably didn't know the limitations of the hull and weather dragging it on the concrete is such a good idea or not. Looks like a new boat and motor so not much knowledge on how to use it, at a guess. Others there could have suggested a solution and given them a hand to remove it. If it was stuck in the grooves it wouldn't be that easy to move either especially with the bow hard up to the pontoon and the arse in the mud. They will learn and get plenty of advice after all this bagging they would be getting now.

I've learned not to pass judgement on the actions of others unless I have allthe information (and I don't rely on the media for this).

So I suppose if you were there...and saw how the incident unfolded...and offered to assist with a strategy that was likely to succeed without damaged the boat or injuring anyone...and these fellas rejected the assistance for no good reason...and thereby directly and knowingly caused inconvenience to others ...then you would have cause to question their judgement, competence in managing a boat and perhaps character.

If on the other hand you are judging and insulting people you have never met, based on a very limited article in the NT News...and the speculations of others with the same lack of first hand knowledge...then it is perhaps your own judgement which should be questioned.

Imagine if these blokes were FFF members and found themselves labelled publicly as 'dickheads' by people who they have never met and who know very little about what actually took place (dickheads is a term used between mates).

Reminds me of another famous NT trial by media case...

At the end of the day it was an accident!! I've seen way worst were people use the back of utes on ramps as fishing platforms, the tenders down on dinah beach covering the whole pontoon and half the ramp, and every time I've used any darwin harbour ramp there has been some idiot in a 80-100k boats fly in at rapid speed creating waves at the ramp thinking they are the bees knees.

Also every time I've been to buff creek when the tides pushing in ive only ever seen people helping each other out specially the older blokes and family groups.

If this is all that's wrong in our lives, then life's pretty bl..dy good!!!
