Hi guys can anyone help me out? I have a lowrance fish finder and when I turn on the screen has no brightness,I can navigate as per usual with the aid of a torch shining on screen and have gone into screen settings but the pwr light button which I usually press to make screen dull or bright will now only turn sounder on or off any info would be greatly appreciated.

There might be a factory reset in your settings menu but you should save your wpts to a card or PC 1st if the unit has that capability. What happens when you push the power button twice (quickly)?

Not too sure what model you have but read your user manual:
Soft reset:
1. unit turned off
2. Press and hold down the pages key
3. While holding the pages key, press and hold the power key untill the unit starts to power on
4. Release the power key (keep the pages key held down)
5. Release the pages key once you have the "do no use this as your primary source of navigation" message.
Hard Reset (same as above except you hold ZIN and ZOUT instead of pages)

Had the same issue with my Lowrance GPS was just a loose earth.

Well did all that and tested with mates boat and still the same. Called lowrance and he told me the light is stuffed but they may upgrade my unit to a hds5 latest model for a fee of around $525. Using my existing transducer and power cables.what do you guys think? My unit is a few years old and they don't manufacture anymore.

Sounds like a good deal ,,hds5 Is a good unit ,,was your old unit out of warranty,,if so go for it ,about 1/2 price

Not sure if was out of warranty.the lowrance tech guy asked for the number off the back and told me it wasn't purchased on oz,but he is calling tomorrow regaurding the deal so I post what the outcome is tomorrow.

What is the unit model?
