Fishing big springs

Post by tjp »

Hey guys
I have some mates coming up from down south for a visit in two weeks. The tides are mainly springs with some big springs mixed in aswell.
Just wondering where people would fish, I have never really fished big tides yet but still want to give it a go. Hopefully get some crabbing in on the smaller tides aswell.
Cheers in advance

Reefies or barra? On the neaps go east, on the rest go west ..
Dundee right up to Bass/Loee could be the go (not knowing what dates you're talking about).

27th is still quite neapish so I would target spots like, Narrows, Leeders, Hotham/Vernons, Darwin Hbr, Lee Pt etc. As the tides get bigger, go anywhere between Loee and Fog Bay wide for reefies, macks, tuna. Target barra on the morning highs around the coastal rocks

I would do the crabbing on the bigger tides. Just have to use long ropes and find eddies and areas that are a bit out of the current. Tie the floats to trees up high if you are worried about losing them. Other wise as said above, Dundee on bigger tides and the gutters or vernons for pelagic fun on the neaper day.
