Hi, booking an NT runoff trip next year.
We usually hit two rivers each trip unless one is going off and have fished the south (top), Daly and chambers creeks in the past with a fair bit of success but the NT tides still confuse us a little as to which is best. I have three Q’s:
- weather pending, do chambers creeks such as marsh still fish well on neaps (or are they inaccessible)
- during a late run off would you pick neaps or springs for the Daly
- during a late run off would you pick neaps or springs for the South, top from nourlangie up
If you were to book a trip, what tides would you prefer?
Cheers!

Chambers bay creeks will fish on the neaps but it will depend on the amount of run off. If there is heaps of water running out of the creeks the smaller tides might not be enough to back them up. And you won't have as much time in the creek before you need to get off the mud flat
Don't know about the South. But pretty sure it will depend on the size of the wet and amount run off. Big run off, you will need big tides to back it up and create the eddies that swirl the bait around
If I was to book a trip I would book it to start on the smallest tide day and go for at least a week. Then you get small and big tides

shady camp another option if you get a good wet,no need to head down to mouth either depending on amount of water coming of top flood plains

Shady or tommy cut. Follow the guides. They don't go where you catch nothing. Also match there lures. This works for anywhere. The new gunn pt road might be finished. SWA offers many areas inc jew

Still yet to experience a run-off with cricket score Barra fishing, this season is the one i hope
Can only suggest studying the weather/river levels plus reading the bible is what ill be doing
Timing seems to be the key as a spot can change overnight but definitely asking the guides will help you make a decision
good luck
