Just the same as driving with no brakes and bald tyres. there is a reason that they call it essential

Maxpower is right about it blowing up out there, it can get pretty rough through that area. It suprises me how small many of the boats are that make that trek.

That's it slug. I can remember going over to hope inlet in our 12 foot dolphin and 15 hp Mariner when I was about 5.
One day my dad decided it was time to go home ( no fish) First he unhooked the motor and carried it about 3km to the mouth. Then came back and took the esky. And then dragged the boat. When we got back to the mouth of buffalo creek I walked along the sand and he walked the boat all the way back to the ramp.

Great story Ghound.

I remember going fishing with dad as a kid in the 10 foot Dolphin punt with the 5 hp Mariner on the back. Buff, creek, Meckits, Corroborrie, Mary River bridge lagoon and Shady Camp were all the order of the day.

Shady camp was a stand out. I remember after launching a decent sized croc slid down the bank and scooted under the boat which was enough to rock it. Then later in the day we went to the a cutting and couldn't make any head way because the 5hp didn't have the power to battle the current. There were buffalo skeletons everywhere.

I always wore a seat belt in the car though except when I was riding in the back of a ute. But that was ok because we were on dirt roads.

Still do, we call em 'handbags'.
" YOUTH is a GIFT "
"AGE is an ART "
"Doesn't mean you get any smarter..just wrinkled and cracked".

"No angler watches nature in a passive way...He enters into its very existence." (John Bailey...Reflections on a Waters Edge)

"Govern a Family as you would catch a small fish....Very Gently." (Chinese Proverb)

"Only those become weary of angling who bring nothing to it but the idea of catching fish." (Rafael Sabatini...1857-1950)

I pray that one day God sends me a fish so big that, when talking of it...I have no reason to lie.
