There are posts floating around some forums about redclaw being controlled in some Qld dams by the release of a virus. I have asked fisheries scientists about this and they have no knowledge of it.
It sounds like an urban legend, possibly stemming from the fact that...
1. Redclaw populations often peak in a dam and then suddenly almost disappear
2. Fishermen stand around drinking rum and spinning bulldust
Or maybe there is some truth in it? Anyone know more?
Redclaw urban legend?
