I thought this was a social "fishing" comp, not a "Pissing" Comp :-?

Lets bring back the "Fishing" for Mugs like me and all. Last year had a great feel, this year aint feeling the same so far

Ahhhh CB, organising anything is always a thankless task

I say full marks to CB for being willing to organise the Challenge this year and taking time to think about last year's Challenge and how it might be improved.

There are only minor changes from 2009 - that a short report is required with each entry (makes the posts more interesting) and no Photoshopped entries.

Barra guides and their punters will be in a separate section so average punters have a fair playing field (everyone is catered for).

It still looks like a low-stress fun barramundi competition to me

Bandit quote

The Rules will be finalized and posted before the end of the month. And how the prizes will be distributed. Ill say it will be the same as last year, biggest fish of each month, mystery length of each month, there will have to be a prize for everyone that completes the challenge, and obviously a 1st prize and 2nd and 3rd if we have enough entrants. Again this will be finalized shortly.

Where are the updates & prize awards??

Bandit quote

Im one of those guilty of not posting a fishing report lately.

Bandit quote

I’ll continue to use fff and hopefully we can encourage more people to contribute.

God I hope so, your running the comp!

Bandit I understand your have big boots to fill, but you signed up.

Could this be part reason for the lack of posts for the comp?

There seems to be no excitment this year in the comp. Something needs to change to inject that enthusiam. Or is it just old hat, and contestants are bored? I don'tknow the answer, but it's back to you for some thoughts :-?

Hey Guys, what's with the taking p..s out of CB. I have all the entries stored at my place and based on the list of names I have I cannot see some of you guys written down. This thing has been running all year as a no stress, no cr.p bit of fun. Lets leave it that way and perhaps next year someone else might stand up and try to keep the thing running. Its not too hard to lose interest when some people feel the need to put the boot in.

If anyone is not happy with what is happening I am happy to give you back your lures. I'll just throw in some extra's to make the end of the year more worthwhile for those who have been participating. I am back in Darwin the weekend of the 8th October for a few days so let me know and I'll organise to get them back to you. Your call.

Fair call Rossco. Dont know why people would be complaining if they are not even in the challenge. Im in it but have been through a Barra drought lately. Will hopefully change that this month.

The only thing Id like to know with the comp is who is winning the mystery length prizes and the monthly biggest fish. Its probably been posted somewhere and Ive just missed it. I think the mystery prize is important for people who dont go anywhere near winning (like me) just to keep it interesting for them. Cheers.

currently recieved entries from following people in no particular order:

Pecheur
Muntzy
Max Power
Billster
zulks
itsinmeblood
lincoln
natho
rossco

a few other people are dropping theirs around soon, i know dingo and bullet are definates, as well as a coupple others..

I have organised some donations for the comp. A mate of mine Bigglen is donating half a dozen or so of his lures. He gave me a few awhile back to trial and get pics with and i must say the results have been better than good. getting some nice barra up to 90cm on them 8) i just gotta go pick up the loot and add to the collection..

Heres a pic of the bounty up for grabs

Image

Theres 30 lures there at this stage. And 9 people paid up. Ive thrown in 10+ to the kitty out of my own stash from last years winnings and the classic, to help keep things interesting.

By the time the rest of the lures are in from Bigglen and a few other entrants where looking at around 45-50 lures in the kitty 8) 8) 8)

I can confirm that there will be prizes up for The biggest barra of each month, A Mystery Length for each month, a prize for the winner of the year, and i think a few more mystery things here and there :naughty:

As for the mystery length fish. originally this was being sorted out by matt and the rize was a Lure pack donated by DOA. A few people recieved this prize already. I will have to get onto matt and see if DOA are still supplying prizes for mystery length fish, hopefully they are, if not there is plenty of lures in the kitty to cover it.. 8)

I will get onto Gibbo as well, at the start of the year he said he would throw in a pliers pack to the kitty and set a mystery length. I can confirm that this length fish has gone off, however the person has not paid their entry fee.. To be fair if they do not pay up it will go to the next person who has given their entry and who caught this length fish

As for the loot giveaway, i will be organising drinks in decemeber or january down at the skiclub or somewhere of the likes. We will set a date later on a date that suits the majority of entrants! This is a social comp and prizes are going to be fairly distributed. The way it looks at the moment everyone will get a prize. As i stated in an earlier thread im in it for the fun not lures and any i have won will be passed onto someone else.

I think the comps going well. Hard to get everyone interested cause the majority of the people who post on fff do not chase barra all year, which puts them off. this is the main reason why the mystery length was introdcued to encourage people who only get out chasing barra a few times a year to enter and be in with a chance. We have also had a coupple of quality drinkups along the way. And i for one have made some good mates directly through the fff barra challenge.

cheers to everyones thats on board. A big thanks must go to Meterclubwannabe for doing the scoreboard every month, all the way from WA  as well as a few other people that have started monthly threads while i have been away working at sea.

Im more than happy to stand aside next year and give someone else ago. ill support it again next year and hopefully a few more people will get on board. cause basically the more people that enter the more prizes there are to go around for everyone.

cheers and good luck for the rest of the year. :drinking1:

Good work mate sounds like you have it all under control to me. This pig nuts is obviously just a bit of a stirrer and hasnt contibuted any thing useful at all :fubird: I dont think anyone who is involved in the comp is having a go at you and im sure no one is going to ask for there lures back.
I myself have really enjoyed the comp more as just a bit of fun and a challenge to myself and we all know its nothing serious.
Keep up the good work i am looking forward to the pss up at the end! :drinking2:
Cheers

all sounds great CB there's always the tossers who like to post shyte then pat themselves on the back...or stroke themselves on the front when they cause a stir
Don't like it don't enter.... simple
but Zulks and his tame barra should be barred...I swear I saw him with one on his shoulder sitting in a mangrove tree feeding it pillies

Hi there,

From my personal point of view, it is still a great challenge and to critic is easier than to be part of the action.
I still see myself in the race, even if I have not caught that many barras, I have smashed my last year record...
And my lack of fish, is maybe due to a slight obsession with an other kind of fish...

But will definitively try to be there for the end of year meet up. Should be overseas from end of December to end of January, but if it is before or after that I will be there.

And I don't think it is worth stressing about the people who stir the pot...

Have a good day,
Pecheur
