Sounds like he's jealous lol it's her fish. Unless you were holding the rod and hooked it for her then it might be different.

Hers minus 10% the baiter-upperer, 10% the people who made the boat and motor, 10% who made the road in, and if my book was in the boat, then it's 10% Flynny as well :D

Not wishing to Hijack this thread, but I have always asked that same question about tourists who bag a big Barra with a fishing guide.

In my books the fish is the guides. Enjoy the fishing experience for sure. But it is not "YOUR FISH".

For it to be your fish you need to have put in the time and effort and acquire the knowledge of where to fish, when to fish, what to use, etc. Then actually put all that knowledge into practice. Only then is it your fish.

Too Harsh??? I don't believe so.

With respect to the OP - it is clearly her fish.

I think you have some validity in your comments Makrel, but I don't fully agree all the same. As one such example of someone who only 3 days ago landed his first metery (aboard a guide boat)...I still put in the hard yards over 5 days, made far more casts than the others on the boat, worked the eddies and back currents, looked for baitfish etc. I cast the lure where I wanted it, and I fought it the whole way. As far as i saw it on the given day anyway, and with all due respect to a gun guide w had on board, there wasn't a lot of rocket science to it - we fished like everyone in the area of the Daly we were, on an available run off creek providing colour change at the turn of the tide. I for one am not sure how this differs in comparison to being an unguided boat going the 50 boat conga-line at Shady trolling the neaps?? Is one metery more 'worthy' for the angler than the other??

Just my opinion of course, in the given circumstances.

Makrel; where do you draw the line? I understand the value of the guides IP but is it different from a mate who fishes regularly, does he claim all fish caught in his boat as his? There are a lot of ways to drop a Barra; the hookup to land ratio would be one of the poorest. You've still got to get them to take and then manage them into the net and as Windy detailed there's always a significant element of luck.
I've fished with a number of guides (not all Barra), most were great; others I reckon should have received an invoice from me.
Anyhow, well done on the high jack - got me!!

Her fish.
