Woohoo, this one is about perfect for bringing run-off rain, all the best rivers will cop it.

NEW TUNE -

"Metre barra on our lures, doodaa doodaa ..."

But I wonder how Kai will go on the Adelaide River?

Might have to give him a call Matt. Dont think he gets the message before it floods out that way. :|

Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day. Teach a man to fish and he will sit in a boat all day drinking beer.........

ch 9 newsreader just said cyclone helen crossing coast now, winds are expected to increase as the eye has grown bigger, any thoughts?
that means winds at jabiru now mach 2!
the outside of a whirlpool might not spin at same speed as the centre, unlike the hammer throw in sport.
the weather in qld,+nt is normal for this time of year, but i fear the media may be terrorising newcomers to both, instead of informing,in their quest to accentuate global warming-doom + gloom-.
there was a storm similar to this before tracy.

Just spent the past two hours driving around checking out the damage between the city and nightcliff...
Some pretty crazy winds there for a while but looks like the most of it has passed. Not a lot of rain in town
yet either.

Plenty of branches and the odd tree over the road. Three or four of the big trees outside the cavenagh
have been uprooted along with a few down near the ski club. Had a look at the Nightcliff Jetty where
some massive swell was crashing onto the rocks throwing spray 5+ metres in the air. :surf: One guy
pulled up after us and walked down onto the rocks only a couple of metres from the edge and was
knocked over by one of the waves. Its a wonder he didn't get washed in and there would be no saving him...
He was obviously drunk though. :drinking5: :bonk:

Also saw a powerpole exploding on Beagle Street off Smith St in the city. Was constantly sparking then
every so often go bang and a huge flash of light. Crazy stuff that electricity!

Anyways it was the quietest Friday night in town I've ever seen...

:drinking1:
Cheers!

It ain't just the media that ramps these things up these days Max

(NT NEWS will love the opportunity to use the word CYCLONE on the front page instead of CROCODILE)

Makes me laugh to see supermarkets full of EXCITED punters getting their 'cyclone kits' :| in place, and businesses closing down up to 24hrs prior to what was always going to be no more than a bit of a blow :banghead:

Oh well, bit of excitement for the 'newcomers' I guess

No worries down here, a lot of trees went arse up but probably 'cause the grounds so wet anyway.
Crossing is up over 10 metres and looks like it will keep rising, lots of water on the ground.........might have to hit a couple of culverts soon. Lost power at 0100 but no big deal, Adelaide River seems to be copping it eh!
All good, even the horse is happy, now to go and empty out the boat :titanic: and have a feed :chef1:
