Sash Muller of Coral Divers has been down for a look at the Kay-Lee hull, which was sunk in August this year as part of the Lee Point artificial reef system. The wreck was scuttled at the Tipper Reef site, which is between the Bottlewasher and Rick Mills reefs. Sash said that even though the GPS waypoint has not yet been officially released there are already boat crews fishing the site. He said: "The wreck is sitting nicely on one of the tippers at the Tipper Reef. There are not many big fish there yet but there is going to be in future because the wreck is perfect for them - we saw a couple of huge batfish and a reasonable amount of smaller varieties. The big fish won't take long to make a home of the wreck as there's lots of nooks and crannies for them to hide in - this wreck will also be a bit of an anchor trap." The Kay-Lee was kindly donated by former commercial fisherman and NT maritime pioneer John Conway. The steel hull is 50 feet long and weighs 15 tonnes.
