In need of advices

Post by Pecheur »

Hi all,

Yes, it is me again, asking for some more advices...

Ok, here is the thing:
I have this little girl of mine, who will be turning 3 very soon.

And for the past 6 to 8 months she has been saying:
"May be if I am very good, Santa will bring me a fishing rod for Christmas..."

And honestly, I think that she has been very good and that Santa will grant her wish.
But Santa do not have a clue as to what kind of rod and reel to get to a nearly 3 years old one with the attentions span of, well, a nearly 3 years old...
Any advices on that?
And what would be the best place and technique to use the first time that I take her fishing with me so it keeps it fun and interesting for her? (We are land based).
And safe, I do not really want her to learn how to dive from the wharf yet...

I am sure that some of you went through this before, and your experience and advice would be welcome.

Have a good day,
Pecheur.

Awwwwww......her best pressie is her caring dad.

Some things I learned from my daughter Pech...

1 If she wants a fishing rod...get her one. Pink.
2 Also get her a doll.
3 Also get her whatever else you think she might like...shes with you for less time than you think.
4 When you take her fishing
fish early morn or late afternoon
go to the end of fishermans wharf
take a small chair...makes her feel special
lots of yummy snacks
shes not allowed to sit on the barricade but she can look over
bait a very small bloodworm hook with squid
one hook only
use a small sinker
fish straight down
fish the start of the incoming tide
she will catch a small fingermark bream (snapper)
say "Oh my god its HUGE!"
she must kiss the tail before it goes back
only catch two then LEAVE
if she wants to stay catch just one more then LEAVE
dont go again for another couple of months
5 Enjoy these days...they go so fast

Peace
Mud

Hey Pechuer any lite spin outfit would be fine, got my younguns a couple of 4-6 kg Crystal Tips and Avaya reels (LED's light up when they wind ) As far as were to go, East point in the corner near the BBQ's / playground I reccon is the best, good chance of getting something and if not plenty of sand and even the playground as back up if they get bored.
Usually rig the boys up for garfish and chuck out some bread for berly, and if they get one I'll put it out on my gear
It's pretty well protected and the sun stays behind the trees for a fair while in the mornings.
Be careful this time of year as there's usually heaps of jellies in the calm water in the corner. :drinking1: :drinking1:
Live it and ENJOY
Cant save the world from idiots as they'll just build a better one!
Wouldn't need rules if people did the right thing!

Thanks for the replies guys.

A woman at work was also telling me to crush the hooks barbs for the little one...
Sound like a good idea to me.

And well if ever she catches a bigger Barra than Mud daughter, I will keep it quiet, promised...
Mostly because it would be better than what I did on the Barra front this year!

Have a good day,
Pecheur
