started with Fireline ,...but over 20lbs its too wirey,

Went to Tuff Line...its cr.p

Tried Millenium Braid nice but too many tip wraps, unmanagable in the wind.

Tried Rod Harrisons Braid. too thick for braking strain

Tried Fins ........been with it ever since mainly 15, 30 & 50lb

Tried a mates reel with Whiplash the other day, seems OK might try it on next respool.

fins xs braid for me and for those who havent used it i recommend it its great casting line and is strong as nails when it comes to abrasion quaiity
and fireline also but the down thing about it is it twists to much but i use the 50lb for reefies and havent lost a fish yet!!........... so thats a vote for fireline and the mighty fins xs braid

Yeah I would have to say Fins PRT or XS , proven consistent line! Ive never had an issue....

Platypus are making a great braid as well...

For line 50lb or heavier I like Whiplash. I think in the lower breaking strains it gets to thin in diametre and breaks easy but the heavy stuff is near impossible to bust. I straighten hooks before I break the line. For light braid the fireline holds well and is good for knotts at that diametre. For thirty pound line the FINS seems to be the go for me.

Hey guys

I have tested a lot of the lines you are mentioning.
You can check the abs and diameters,
If you want a line tested then send in 4mts.
The higher the abs for the diameter the smaller the loss with aging.

Gents this is an old post, I know, but how often do you replace your braid? every season ? 2 years?

It really does depend on how much use it gets. Ive one reel I'll use most the time when it comes to barra fishing and I'll change that about every 12 months, then on some of my blue water gear I hardly use maybe 10 times a year which I haven't changed in about 5 years and the braid still looks new.

I work off when my go-to knots start to fail (when tested) and the colour starts to fade I'll start stripping line, and when it start to get low on the spool I'll just replace the whole lot.

I know some people reverse there braid on the spool to get more life, but I'm to lazy for that!!
