Shoal Bay o/ nighter

Post by Ernie »

Hit S/B Sat arvo to hopefully give the the crabs a bit of grief and maybe snag a mack at Lee pnt and a baz or 2 as well.
Got the pots in and worked them through the run in ending up with 11 8-) Met Simmo & co out there with the same plan as us and tied up for a few :drinking2: and a gasbag and he was a bit more organised than us and pulled out a burner and fry pan and we tossed a couple of crabs in  , not a bad late night nibble :chef2:
Awoke around 4.30 with the tide starting to rip and rebaited the pots and wacked em back in first pull added sweet FA to the count which had us puzzled as it's usaully the prime time. But after leaving them for an extra good soak, it paid off with us bagging out
Good timing as the granparents snagged emself a few to take home.
Bolted out to Lee Pnt for a flick with the Trevs on the job and a nice one around 6 kg on the first cast :catch: :catch: but they were gone as quick as they came, couldn't buy a Macky and only seen 1 free jump over a few hours, buy now the wind was giving us the SH*TS and we decided to hit one of the creeks to chase a baz.
Entertained our selves for a few hours :drinking2: and wasting our livies feeding the sharks and pulled the pin to try for greener pastures.Pulled up to a nice snag in open water and it was on with the livies getting smacked as soon as they hit the water getting a couple of baz for the esky and dropping a heap, at one stage all three rods were screaming with the enevitable outcome :banghead:
They soon moved one as the tide came in and so did we.
Got a better than usaul entertainment at the ramp :banghead: :bonk: :banghead: while we waited for a bit more water. Before you say we should have helped we didn't think that 4 people would be required to retrieve 12 ft tinnies :-? :-?
Don't know how half of even make it back to the ramp at all
But once again a bl*#dy good time and a top shelf feed :chef2:
Forgot the camera again so sorry no pics even forgot to take a pick for the barra comp :banghead: :banghead:
But if you want a feed of crabs, give SB ago, as they've been elusive up the back of the harbour so far for us. :drinking1: :drinking1:

Top diggs Ernie,
great to hear that you had a good time and filled the belly plus a bit of interest. Great report, even without the photos. The wind has been almighty, made my little fella a bit green around the gills with the inevitable berley trail yesterday.
Good to hear some "pure" thoroughbred saltwater Baz being dragged out. Great stuff. :chef2:
