Heading to Corroboree with Hawkeye. Staying a few nights on the house boats. First time at Corroboree and house boating. Not sure whether to take my boat along or just fish from the house boat. (or Hawkeyes boat)

FF - if it's blowing it's tit$ off, and you want to fish "seriously" take your boat.

Those big mutha's are a pain to steer on a trolling run with the wind smashing you from the side :sailing: :sailing:

Great for carting the esky & tucker around in tho' :drinking2: :chef2: :chef1: :drinking3:

You'll love it 8-)

reckon you should bring your boat too John

gives you a lot more flexibility to zip off to other locations like Powertail island and rock hole and if its windy than we have the challenges of being blown around in the house boats

catch ya :drinking2: :fishing:

Long Weekend

Post by Dingo »

Well this was my weekend in the end. Got into Darwin Saturday picked up my boat after not having it for 8 weeks (I wont go into the reasons) got some civilization into me on Saturday and kicked back. Got myself some crab pots and went down to Dinah ramp to go for a crab session before I went back to Ketherine Sun night. Got to the ramp all keen, and saw the chop on the water and decided I was not that keen, but at least there were a few available parks left at the ramp.

I was real keen to put the boat in the water, was not too worried about catching anything just wanted to be on the water. So on the way home today I pulled into the Vic River at the ramp near the Vic River Roadhouse where there was no crowds and a beutiful backdrop. Put on the only lure i bought myself in Darwin a Killlalure Flat rat +10, trolled for about an hour an half anf then got back on the road. In that time i managed a 59cm Barra which was a suprise and a beautiful powertail.

Overall a good weekend, and the little stretch of river behing the roadhouse is a beautiful spot if you are after a non crowded relaxing bit of water.

It was the first time I had purchased a killalure, but I might have to purchase some more of them after today.
