New to NT and desperate to try out shady camp. Have a mate here Wednesday Thursday (21/22 April)next week. So was thinking a really early start to launch at first light.
Is there currently enough water coming over the barrage to launch on all tides? (I have a 4.1 polycraft)
Tides look like we'd be fishing the mouth over high tide. Is this suitable?
Any other tips
Cheers in advance.

Also, how long does it take to get down to the mouth?

Re: Shady condition
I'd be lauching on the incomming tide, but for Wednesday that would be fine. Being the first time there I would wait till daylight with a bit more water, maybe launching around 7am.
Stick to the right hand side of the ramp (looking at the water) when you lauch, there's a big rock towards the barrage side of the ramp. You'll see it at low tide, but it's something to be aware of.
The barrage empties out quickly after the top of the high, so it pays to be there before high to lauch and retrieve (depending on the size of tides and amount of water coming over, if any).
There is a channel around the first few corners (it gets shallow through there on the lower tides) so if possible, try and follow another boat, otherwise stick to the outside of the corners.
After the first few corners it deepens and there are no nasty rockbars to worry about anyway.
The tides at the ramp are approximately 4.5 hours behind Darwin and the mouth is about 2 hours behind.
Grab a copy of the Fish Finder book, if you haven't already. Has good info about Darwin and surrounding areas. Don't be afraid to ask at the ramp either, most fisho's up here are more than keen to help out, especially for newbies to an area.
Good luck, pm if you have anymore questions and I'll help out if I can.

Cheers for the info. Went out on Wednesday had an awesome day out. Only problem- no fish. At least the charters came home empty handed as well. Next time....
