Ok another sounder question. What does the hds offer me that the elite chirp can't ?
Can my power , transducer, Minnkota ipilot and structure scan from my gen1 hds fit into the elite series?

If they are anything like the Elite 5 and 7, then Quality. The Elites are junk. Nice for a cheap tinny.

Going from a HDS (even gen 1) to an Elite is like cutting off one of your legs because you are sick of walking on two.

Its possible that the transducer and power would work, but why bother? The Minn Kota wont care what you have.

If you want your unit to talk to your Minn kota, check out the Humminbird Helix series. You can get some of the larger screen units for a reasonable price, they can do side scan and even live mapping. Come with a 3 year warranty from most resellers.
