Spotlight and LED Lights for Boat Recommendations

Post by trueblue10 »

Hi all

Have a 6.1 quinny used for fishing etc out to sea. Looking for some advice/recommendations on what hand held spotlight to get for my boat. Looking at either a good rechargeable or a 12 plug version that's not going to drain the batteries in a rush.

Also looking at putting a LED lamp in the boat to light up the back. Probably thing one you can fitting small batteries to. Did not want to hard wire them to the boat.

Any experiences/advice welcome.

just use led light strips wired to the bus bar on the fuse box, ive got it around the whole boat and lights it up great. there cheap as on ebay plus they turn into party lights after a few beers. dont know why you wouldnt want to wire them in they drain buger all power ive had mine on for days and dosent get close to draining the battery. As for the spotlight im looking for one aswell i have heard alot about the lightforce handheld lights they sell them at in and outboard marine.

Spotlight and LED Lights for Boat Recommendations

As far as spotlights go, Lightforce do a few models. Both in standard and HID. I used to use a SL170 when spotlighting foxes down south. It would have more than enough range to use for a boat light, 250-350m. The best part about lightforce lights is they are very light and you can change your light type ie; flood, pencil beam or a combination of the two with a simple change of the $25 outer lens. They come in both alligator clamp and cig lighter plug configuration.

Hope this helps.

Cheers

Head down to ECO Power they have a good range of Marine grade leds, strip, flood, spot. If they dont have what you want they will get it in. They are lovely people and wont rip you off.....
