Re: antenna
Depends if you want an antenna for go or for show.
An efficient lower gain antenna clear of the vehicle obstructions will out-perform any higher gain antenna mounted lower on the vehicle body (eg the bulbar).
The higher the gain the longer it is.
If its flexible and high gain, the radiation pattern tilts under speed cancelling the high gain characteristic.
A short end-fed antenna ( 30cm) mounted high on the vehicle (roof) will give the best allround performance and value. Retailers will quote all sorts of db gain figures at you but an end-fed half-wave antenna has a gain of 4.2dbd which equates to a real gain of 2dbi. Note the terms dbd and dbi.
I use a 3 dbi gain antenna (about 60cm long made of wire with a "curly bit" in the centre) on the passenger side bonnet and accept the shielding to/from the drivers side rear of the vehicle.
good luck with the answers u are going to get.
