Leave Great Whites alone.
The worst species on this planet are humans............ We kill indescriminately and without thought!
If we succumb to the 'intelligent idealogy' of killing species that offend or attack humans then sign me up to cull 95% of the human population

Human population is the biggest factor affecting the environment today, not Great Whites, yet no one tackles this problem.

Anyone who lives/operates/enjoys and enters the wild must understand the calculated risks involved, if you dont want too then don't enter.
I do a lot on solo hiking in remote parts of the world and if I injure myself I get myself out or I die!

I think you might have it right Palaran, instead of cull them, they should genetically engineer whites to have 30 pups, like tigers, instead of one or two.

Great way to save the white and reduce human population pressure, and it's only going to be a problem down in WA/SA/Vic

If people want to 'livebait' Great Whites by imitating their normal prey, then it's a sure bet that sooner or later they'll succeed. No sympathy at all.
It's a documented fact that the Great White finds human flesh unpalatable, as evinced by the number of single bite attacks.
Totally agree with Palaran, cull out the fools who cause the problem.
No coincidence that seal hunting season has started, and the White is roaming further afield to hunt.

They are amazing creatures thats for sure. I just want to see if science can determine if the attacks are being done by certain individuals. And if so they should be removed before other individuals learn from them(assuming they socialise etc). Its better to have few rogues removed then have a building population developing the knowledge and taste for homo overpopulas!

Was doin a bit of research on the GW, and found an article in which me Grandfather caught a 9.7m bull shark off Frenchmans bay whaling station in 1915. Always thought it was a family legend..400 teeth sold a 2/6d each..around $36 each in today's coin.
Used to sit on the flensing deck, when I was a kid, and watch blokes shoot sharks attacking the whale carcases durin their smoko break.
Seems like I was predestined to catch the buggers.
However, I will never be in favour of killing any species, simply because it crosses our ever expanding path through their environment.
Heres thought..directed at the 'kill em' crowd...Take a lump of meat and hang it over the neighbours fence..when their dog takes it.. kill it.
Makes as much sense as hanging a bait, and killig a shark because it took it..If you don't want to catch the odd shark.. then go fish in your pool.

i watched a south african documentary on youtube last night - from disections of dead GW's they have worked out that their digestive system is a long and slender tube that cant hande hard bones, like human bones. they can empty their stomach by folding them inside out fii they detect something will get stuck and increase the risk of staving.

also, they evolved their teeth from their skin!

Ummm... Large apex predator evolved into the perfect killing machine sees' what it thinks is a slow retarded seal in the water, what do you think is going to happen?!? The shark is following its' biological imperative to get as large as it can with a minimum of energy expenditure. If they seriously targeted humans there would be alot more deaths and people simply disappearing in the water.
