Trouble with Mercury 30hp

Post by drifter »

G'day all, I found out the other day that I have done a cylinder in my motor. Still waiting to hear what the cause was & what the cost of repair will be, but expect its going to be bl..dy expensive.

The motor was bought new as part of a package on my Quinnie 420 dory january '01. For the first 4 years it got a run most weekends, averaging 100 - 150k per weekend. Last 2 years has been on the water every 2 or 3 weeks.

It allways gets flushed at the end of the day, and gets a full service every christmas.

Am I just unlucky or is this to be expected. Has anyone heard if Merc's are prone to this problem. I would be keen to get your opinions

Regards,
Motorless Brad

Have heard of a fair few prob with the bigger Mercs and a lack of quality backup service but not really heard of anything with the smaller ones.

Thanks for the offer dodgyone, but I'm down here on the Central Coast.

I hope to get this resolved in the next week or so, but a really appreciate your offer :applause:
