Navionics gold card

Post by max »

I have a Lowrance Global Map 4800m & since moving to NSW Ive had to purchase this card as my old one only covered the NT so i puts it in & all Ive got is a map of Aus. Im guessing Ive got to play with some setting to get some detail ( I had a bit of a play but nada) ,if anyone could help It would be appreciated. I could wait till new year & get on to Lowrance but Im impatient :D

Max, your right about the settings.

Just go into the map section and choose the overlay that you want in order for the detail to appear.

Navionics break down their mapping into regional areas and you need to tell your GPS what overlay to display.

Hope this helps.

Not sure as I dont have my plotter here but I think the process is. Press Menu, menu, Gps data on the screen, go to map data. Scroll down to the region that you want to overlay and press enter. I could be wrong but it isnt hard. Should be in the manual if all else fails. might have my gps going tomorrow so might have a look for you. Will let you know.

thanks Coop, the menu Ive been in to doesnt give me an area only Lowrance or Navionis & the mumber 8 followed by a heap of other numbers, the card I have is is a gold XL9 & bloke at tackle shop reckons that should be the one & on the lowrance site theres some models that require a software update but mine isnt one although its nearly 6 yrs old, cheers.

Try taking the SD card out of the unit and putting it back in when you turn it on. Thats what I had to do to get it to read initially. It should be under the navonics title. Log into that then it should come up with a list of chart areas and click on the one you need. As I said earlier I will look again tomorrow.
