I spy with my google eye

Post by antfish »

Yes just been having a closer look at a few places on google earth as you do and I was just wondering if anybody would be kind enough to tell me what is at the end of Cemetery rd out of Daly River. Looks like some sort of camp site to me ?

Is Cemetry Rd and Wooliana Rd the same ? If it is then Troamaru is right.

Thanks for the input, the area looks good to me. Although I should of put this Q. on camping forum I am just finding my way around this site (not that I look at to many others) The simple story is that I work for a, or should I say any tourist park where you are told no fires, this is your boundaries etc etc. O.K that is camping to some but I have a different idea to what camping is to what I have to police, not that people don,t have a good time and I do my best to make sure they do. Any ideas to areas where I can consider fun would be more than welcome. If you don,t want the whole world to know just message me. Probably in reality at barra nation time of year there will be no where to hide but I will have 6 months after that.

Ash, getting back to the thread..Cemetary rd was named for the old Daly River copper mine cemetary from the early days..lot of the origional settlers were buried there..starts near the Red Lily lagoon t/off and goes right thru to Brown's ck. we used to call the bit between Banyan Farm and Browns, the woolliana track. Back then it was just a little dirt track leading past the old woolliana store. Haven't been down for years, I'm pretty sure the old cemetary is heritage listed nowadays.. graham

got to love the wild turkey post.....some of my best fish have been caught after 15 or 20 wild turkeys...

and let me add that some of my finest work ever done was after 15 wild turkeys with the swedish backpackers at the daly waters in mid may.

Made sense to me ant. During the "dry" there is a caretaker down there looking after things, but during the wet you will have the place to yourself with 10 billion mozzies. Its as close to a real camping you will get on the river playing by the rules. Would be a great spot for the nats set up an old lounge chair on the cliff n watch the boats crash into the sand bank. Might event do that myself this yr.

If its just a fire place and a camp away from the nomads you want give the banyan farm a call, might be a bit packed during the comps though.

This is for all you people who do not understand Turkey talk!! I will put it in point form
1 I love to be paid out on when I deserve it, it is all good fun and I enjoy the same game!
2 Those who do not understand turkey should drink a bit more
3 Thank you to people who have feed me the answers I am looking for
4 I deal with campers or tourist every day and there are to many rules to mention, this is not camping to me but good folk enjoy it and I will do every thing in my power to make sure they do, because that is what I am paid for and that is what I love about my job, I meet some great people
5 I am interested in learning about other places where I can camp by a water way with may be meeting no one or meeting some people that are like minded and simply enjoying meeting them
6 I quiet enjoyed the laugh I got out of the replies, at least I was able to manage to type, LEAST I did not have to ask my missus to try and figure this out for me !!
Cheers Ant
