If there is water and it holds fish, then it is fun trying to fool them into eating what you offer!!
Especially when you can see them!

Re: Show us your biggest MACKERAL
Got this one about 6 years ago while I was working off Heron Island (Gladstone).
Ill never forget it! I had just brought a tinny and we were taking it for a test run and a bit of a fish, we caught an iodine bream, cut a fillet off it and threw it out the back on a gang hook hand line. 5 minute later I was wresting this thing, thought it was a shark and was going to give it to my mate to have a play with for a while, he said I don't think its a shark, I think its a big mackerel! So I kept going, sure enough after about the 3rd time of getting it near the boat we saw it for the first time and could not believe what we saw! My mate gaffed it, got it in the tinny and we were amazed! Talk about being in the right place at the right time! Didn't weigh it, a few of the old fishermen on the Island said it was over 30kg, a fish of a lifetime! Fed most of the people on the Island that night. For reference I'm 194cm and 110 kg.
AMs mate Andre the mad South African has great photo of a larger one he caught on a kayak at Fraser Island!

Biggest mackie I've ever caught, not sure how long or how heavy but it tasted good. Caught during the buildup of Dundee after a pretty hectic morning of spinning.
