looks the goods ,,,now start thinking about what else you can make to lower the cost of fishing,,,just made a new gafe $16 same size in the shop $50 :mrgreen:

Yeah Jeffish, gaff's are way overpriced. With a bit of elbow grease its quite easy hey? When I was younger I made myself a 16' cane gaff for high rock fishing. I wish I still had it. I think I would hang it above my future bar for unruly patrons

i was thinking about upgrading my drop gaff to some how go along the line like the more expensive ones do, but when i have time i guess

Nofo just add a carrabena clip about a foot above the gaff onto the rope easy to clip on and works a treat, just bind it on with twine or even use a zip tie

To make the rod cases lockable how would a bit of flat bar go 90deg bend on one end, slotted through the thread on the screwed cap with enough flat bar sticking out the opposite side with a hole for a padlock?

Just remember that locks will only make it thief resistant. Anyone who wants it will just take it all, or cut the padlock

probably only suited to traveliing when no other secure storge, thoughts maybe same at each end with cable attached and run through a secure point on the boat, only going to stop the lazy pr..ks might slow the others enough to not bother.lol

Here is some pics of the rod case with lockable end cheaper than screwed cap and socket lockable to inside of boat with high tensile cable only gunna keep the honest ones at bay but might slow em down.
