Lake Monduran fishing

Monduran is one of the 3 Qld dams to have both barra and bass.

Qld names the dam walls after a person (eg Lake Monduran/Fred Haigh dam or Lake Maraboon/Fairbairn dam at Emerald) while the water held back is given a name associated with local events.

Lake Monduran gets its name from the property its on - Monduran station.

Lake Maraboon near Emerald derives its name from the tradional owner term maraboon- where the black ducks fly.

Maraboon is on the old Cullin-a-ringo station which is the birtholace of aussie rules.
