Channel Point

Post by balawisway »

Late report...we were booked in for channel point for 28th September to 2nd October...had a couple of days of fishing and few ales :drinking1:. Got a mix bag of fish, first day was slow, picked up some reefies and chased some birds for Mac Tuna and yellow tail tuna, second day up at cape ford was good, first drop / drift on a mark, we bagged out on goldies with in 20mins, it was crazy, third day we tried chasing jewies, but cod,s were biting the bait first, caught a few on Octo jigs with squid, which seem to work well :) .. Got a few crabs in the mangroves with a hook / gaff..,
We dropped some boys back at camp and stayed out on the jewie ledge for 3 jewies, one measured up 120cm, other two were the size of the palm of your hand :| , anyway only got the one keeper, tried all the jewies spots, but just couldn't find em this trip. Anyway some happy snaps from the trip...

Nice work. We were there 4 days ago and the Jewies were biting their heads off. Not so many goldies though.

Even on the big tides? Do you fish the changes of tide or go in the lee of the point?

some nice fish there, well done balawisway.

good to hear you got a few fish on the octas!
If there is water and it holds fish, then it is fun trying to fool them into eating what you offer!!

Especially when you can see them!

Gotta love it.
" YOUTH is a GIFT "
"AGE is an ART "
"Doesn't mean you get any smarter..just wrinkled and cracked".

"No angler watches nature in a passive way...He enters into its very existence." (John Bailey...Reflections on a Waters Edge)

"Govern a Family as you would catch a small fish....Very Gently." (Chinese Proverb)

"Only those become weary of angling who bring nothing to it but the idea of catching fish." (Rafael Sabatini...1857-1950)

I pray that one day God sends me a fish so big that, when talking of it...I have no reason to lie.
