Queenie of the rocks

Your home if you fish from anything that isn't floating.

Queenie of the rocks

Post by john d »

Haven't posted for a while due to not fishing because of work commitments. :banghead:
Managed to get a few free days this week so a couple of trips are on the cards.
Hit lee point this morning for the turn of the low tide.
Managed to get this Queenie on my third cast.
The fish went wild jumping all over the place and didnt want to be landed.
It was caught in less than a meter of water and done some ripper runs and spectacular jumps.
One of the best queenies I have caught in a while, it went 78cm to the fork of the tail. 8)
Got it on a small chrome slice.
Tried to release it but it was done in and just kept going belly up, so plenty of nummus in the fridge.
The weather this morning was amazing just like a dry season day with a south easterly breeze keeping the temp down a bit.
Pretty happy with my first fish for the year.
Going to get the boat on the water tomorrow and head out to the fentons or charles.
Hope the storms stay away as this probably will be the only time I get to fish for another month

Cheers Guys.
Thought the same thing once it was landed
I had the fly rod with me and used it straight after catching this one hoping that there was some more around.
Unfortunately it was on its own.
Would have been a fantastic fish on fly.
Got a few smaller queenies and trevs from that spot before on fly but nothing this big.

Nice fish, great fun from the shore as well

Good stuff, love the queenies aerobics
If there is water and it holds fish, then it is fun trying to fool them into eating what you offer!!

Especially when you can see them!
