Looks like a mark off dundee where they appear as soon as the boat pulls up. You end up with hundreds of them circling the boat. If you can get to the bottom it is loaded with snapper though. Never lost a fish to a shark on the retrieve. Its a wierd spot.

The blacktip is apparently considered a viable commercial alternative to the gummy shark, more sustainable apparently.

Blacktip and chips?

Meanwhile ... anyone ever lost a cobia to a shark?

Never lost a cobia to a shark no, was fishing nth gutter a year or so ago and simply could not get anything to the boat, we were about to give up when i hooked what I thought to be another shark, what i didnt realize while I was skull dragging it in was that it was infact a 17kg cobia. everything else we hooked got sharked but the cobia was left alone.
