Hi everyone,
My first post in this forum. I hope it's been raining well for you.
It's been a bad monsoon for me. There's a drought during the wet season and high temperatures which is killing our fish through red tide and oxygen starvation.
My name is Lawrence Lee and I'm from the little red dot on the map called Singapore. We fish for barra and Queenfish every weekend here.
My missus and I will be visiting NT in the first half of May. I'm hoping to be able to get some fishing done during this time and I'm looking at fishing around Dundee Beach and Daly River since they have easy access to both reef and barra fishing.
So far, the charters that I'm recommended are full or are beyond my budget. Would be grateful for some local knowledge here as I'm trying to make $450 a day work for me.

Good to have you on here Lawrence, perhaps you could put up a Singapore report - because you catch the same fish as Darwin (barra and queenfish) I think Darwin people would be interested to see how you fish there.

Re: Visiting NT in May
Saltwater inshore fishing at singapore target mainly grouper, snapper, barracuda, queen fish, mangrove jack and barramundi.
Lure anglers here use minnows up to 110mm size and small jigs from 15g to 30g to target these fish, casting from the shore at target structure.
Those of us with a kayak or a small dinghy get to fish in mangrove creeks although these are mainly devastated by decades of uncontrolled netting.
A greater portion of lure anglers here practice catch and release. However bait anglers mostly catch to take home. Since there are no limits to size, and quantity, everything that gets hooked gets bagged by the baiters who tend to be the foreign immigrants working here.
There's great pressure on the fish here, and we have to keep changing lures and technique as they get very hook shy. It's not uncommon to see anglers using finesse gear, casting 40mm lures to target barra on ultralight 6lb gear as they have all become wary of the angler. And in these cases, the fish and structure mostly win.
So a lot of lure anglers turn to fishing at pay ponds. Here, for a fee of S$650, you and 5 of your mates get to fish for GT in a private pond for a couple hours. The pond operators will handle the fish caught for photography and release. All fish are released at these ponds and a fee is levied if a fish fail to be revived due to angler mishandling.
Others make a 4-hour journey north to fish for Sailfish, cobia and threadfin trevally in Malaysia.
So that in a nutshell is fishing in Singapore.

Hi Fish Tank,
I've booked us on two charters. 8-11May, I'm booked with Anglers Choice to fish at Dundee Beach. 12-14 May I'll be with FishingEarth.com fishing the Darwin Harbour.
Thanks again for your generous offer. I'm unable to find a button to PM you so I'm writing this here. Do you need any fishing stuff from Singapore? The JDM reels and lures are cheaper here than in AU.
Just PM me what you need and I'll help you bring them over. That'll save you freight cost.
However, you gotta come find me as it's my first to Darwin and I'm not familiar with landmarks in your city.

Hi Emma, good to see you here!
We're looking forward to meeting you. Who should I look out for at the airport?
BTW I've sent you a message on your Facebook page.

If you have any funds left after the charters. Helifish might be an option as well.
You certainly get to see the country side from a different perspective that's for sure.
