If he's showing signs of motion sickness, (quietness & yawning is an early indicator in my experience), pull the anchor and let him have a drive around, might have to be on dads lap being 6yo. Works for my passengers.

Plain white bread rolls can settle a queasy stomach, a charter skipper told me this one, seems to work.

Or break out some blue cheese and get the barfing over and done with :D

You could aslo try and get him to snack on ginger nut biscuits, the ginger is supposed to be good. I have had my young boy on half a kwell since he was 5, he is 12 now and good on the boat. Still give him the kwell just in case.
he fishes he fishes he fishes its the only thing in life all he ever gets is hell from his fed up wife

The trouble with meds is that also make you drowsy. I used to get crook while diving and a bloke put me onto chewy lollies like jubes, minties etc.
I still get crook on occasions and don’t listen to those who tell you to drink a cold beer. It doesn’t work
The only real cure is dry land.

This might sound a bit left field , but try putting a small ball of cotton wool in one ear.
My missus has attacks of sea sickness and we've tried ALL the drugs and some do help .
I was given this tip by an old fisho mate of mine that came up last year ,,, well she tried it
and hasn't had a problem since . Go figure.

Brad, I gave my 6 and 7 girls a quarter pill of travel calm, when they get drowsy I let them share a 500ml mother.

Its all to do with the inner ear. Last year I had a blockage in one of the tubes and everytime I moved my head, I lost my balance and almost fell over.

Also, make sure the kids are looking out of the boat at the horizon all the time (not down at their ipads etc). Bait their hooks so they don’t have to look down,
If they are a bit anxious, that can bring it on.
If all else fails, gte them to lie down and CLOSE THEIR EYES. Closing the eyes breaks the connection between the visual inputs to the brain and the inner ear sensors.

Oh yeah, forgot, more beer doesnt help at all!

I've used ginger tablets which worked well no drugs in them all natural so would be good for the kids.Take one the night before then one in the morning before u leave.
I've also used those ones ET advertises when down in Sydney fishing with my brother. We go out through the heads in Port Hacking and the swell can be quiet nasty at times never had a problem.Dont know how safe they are for kids but the chemist should be able to let u know as they are made up for each person and take about 2 weeks.

My missus used to get sick all the time but now eats a small chunk of fresh ginger when we head out and has no problems. Might be a challenge getting the young fella to eat it but it doesnt need to be chewed. We found Its better than the ginger tabs from chemist

All good info peeps, thanks, have tried the look at horizon trick with no luck.....theres only enough beer for me, so he doesnt have to worry about that for another 12 yeras....will certainly go thru the list above and work out which works for him, could be a bit of trial and error, just hope i find it sooner rather than later as he is already apprehensive going "out in the ocean"
Cheers,
Brad

Also remember to try and build the tolerance of what ever you take, so try starting a few days before going and hours before getting on the boat. I use ginger beer and have a few sea sick tablets a day or two before going blue water. I then sip on ginger beer when on the water. It has been seeming to help. My 2c
