The ramp often has a bad chop that tries to swamp boats, There is a large build up of sand at top of ramp you will need 4x4. The crabing is good near ramp and you will not be able to get out aftyer 3.5 meter tide. The mossies vary from night to night. The shower is hot in the middle of day but cold otherwise because trees cover solar panels. No bins so take rubish bags. Two weeks ago 14ft crock on ramp and 200mters out is large rock so be carefull. Very muddie at the bottom of the ramp ( a d9 dozzer would disappear.) Good luck.

On the fishing front it depends on wind/swell and what you're chasing but the channel is great for jews and snapper, any structure or drop off is fine. Bottom of south island for big queens, round the back of the north island plagues of trickies, goldies and stripies. If its neaps you'll probably run into footy ovals of bust-ups out the back of north island too. Rocks to the right of the ramp hold barra troll edge of rock ledge or flick over the rocks with shallow lures. In between the islands hold all sorts of pelagics when the water is high enough, so many options. Coastal creeks are still an option for barra if you head over toward red cliffs or up the Daly mouth. Enjoy mate you'll love it.

will be there in about 4 weeks as well Smarty, if you want pm me when you are going, maybe we can catch up.
Been there a few times in the 5m Savage, no worries, if the winds up a bit you can have a ball catching good sized queenies at the southern end of the South Peron, change of tides is good along the channel in front of the houses on Channel Point. Can provide a couple of marks and some info.

If there is water and it holds fish, then it is fun trying to fool them into eating what you offer!!
Especially when you can see them!

Hey mate,
Went there last year with DOLEY from the forum and another fella. Best advice I can give (if you are anything like DOLEY) is don't drink too many cans prior to bringing the boat in at the end of the day if the swell is rolling in onto the ramp.
On the fishing front, night time for jewies out the front of the houses on Reidys or Lucanus jigs worked excellent for us. If you are going to troll during the day, big deep diving Rapala X-Raps in the Green Dorado colour did the damage. DOLEY used a Down and Dirty Woghead (that was going to be the best thing since) but didn't raise a scale.
Plenty of fish out there Smartie, just find a bit of reef / drop off and you will be right.
Cheers
Matt

My advice,
Dont consume a carton of XXXX gold and try to assist with putting boat on trailer, you may find yourself knocked out and lying in water at bottom of ramp having to be saved from drowning by Matty A.
The woghead got a hookup, i think Matty forgets this !
