Ah, must be the same type of "barra" that appeared in the newspaper story about dumped fish.

I have been fishing the adelaide since 87 and yup agree totally with matt and 2 rods, especially about big salties arriving late in the season  The question is though........ when is late?.

Fishing is not a matter of life and death, it is far more serious than that.

I was told by guides out there that the neeps are good for the tommy cut mouth due to the clearer water. Grant might be the man to help here as he fished it a lot as a guide and I am sure that he would be happy to share some info.

As for the Adelaide I wish that I had read this thread before I fished it. We gave it a good crack on Saturday for zip. Great info from 2rods and Matt thanks. I may venture back now but after Sat I had given it up.

Cheers Pete

Looking back at this year's wet season above the Arnhem Hwy bridge on the Adelaide, I note how different all the creeks up there are during the run-off period.

I noticed that the fish were spread out too, not always around the colour changes, even when there was a lots of bait in some creek mouths.

It was quite effective to hunt down a fish that was boofing in its own little cove along the river bank, sometimes in the middle of nowhere, although the barra often hold up under overhanging stuff that is hard to get a lure into.

There is good fishing up the Adelaide after the run-off too, and during the dry season. Trolling the rockbars can work well, and jigging the many snags above Goat Island.

The freshwater fish up the top also don't seem to taste bad during the later dry season like the wet season "green dogs".

I thought it was pretty average up there this year, possibly because the wet came late and - what do others think?
