Boys
Heading up to Dunguness on the 9th March with some mates from Hervey Bay. Did the same trip last year and got smashed with 700mm of rain in 4 days. We still got some barra which was the main target but it was not easy. We seemed to catch fairly well for about 2 hours in towards the bottom of the tide, then teh bite would go. Caught most barra in the drains and pressure points. The last hour of the run out and the first hour of the run in was dead which I thought was odd. We really struggled to catch anything outside of this window. Does anyone have any suggestions for fishing the southern and middle reaches of the channel on an incoming and high tide? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Have 5m tinny with electric. Will mostly flick lures and SPs, may live bait.
Tried trolling the bluff and Haycock last year but to no avail. Some tactics for a game plan to fish different areas at different stages of the tide would be greatly appreciated. Target species mostly barra, jacks salmon jew fingermark.
Is gentle annie Ck worth fishing on the first hour or two of the incoming out infront of the mouth. I have heard there is a drop off where fish school up waiting for the tide to rise to gain access over the sand bar into the creek.
Thanks again

Webbo1,
Grew up in that area. Rising tides live bait on flats towards Haycock or work plastics along the jetty (not sure if you can still fish there) for fingermark and pelagics on the high change. Bottom of the low, deep troll Haycock and headlands, or work thready busters etc through pressure points. If they have had heaps of rain, live bait is the go in deap holes. creeks on the island itself full of jacks on strip mullet.
Gentle Annie worth a look but hit and miss. dont get stuck!

Re: Hinchinbrook help
A lot of cyclone damage was done to some mangrove snag areas by Yasi, still clearly visible in places.
