I hooked a big milky on my Fireblood on 10lb a couple of years back, spool was gone in a about 2 mins. Got it on video with my mates pissing themselves in the back ground. Was great fun while it lasted

Re: Ligh tackle spin reels
Figured i might do a update rods pretty much done, to minimise weight i decided to only use a fore grip and cut it in half , and i used all single foot guides, I was going to use the new fuji k series guides but they were a bit expensive at $40 or so.
Just gota save up for the reel now, maybe ittl be my christmas present tomyself hahah

Stradic fj 2500 good value and price from fishing and outdoor world. I have it paired with a DAM Athena 5 foot rod - great for the kids and I like to use it myself.

I have a Shimano 2500 Twinpower and a Stella 2500 FE. Drag on the Stella is so much better.
Even managed to land my first metery as well with it. So much fun on light tackle.

Hi Kp,
Looks like you have a good solid workbench, hopefully it's nice and flat!
Probably an ignorant question, but what is the benefit in having that style of grip? - not meant to be a negative comment on your rod by any means; in fact well done for having the skills to build one!, but there are a few out there and have always wondered what the advantages are.

Hi trier
Luckily for me i have a mate that does the rods because i definitely dont have the tallent to do that. Well the whole reason i did the split but was to minimse weight the rod blank i have got is at its thickest is only like 7 or 8 mm and its a really light blank aswell ,
Crusty- nah sorry im a shimano guy, i know people like daiwa but i dont like them as much as i like shimano.
