Thanks fella's but I'm a shimano guy through and through have over thirty rods and reels in my cupboard and I only have two reels that aren't a shimano , and I was down the tackle store and was looking over reels (well more like drooling over them) they had the daiwa airdt and the stradic in 4000 size and the shimano was way smoother and better balanced, I'd love to get the Stella though but my wallet would start screaming rape if I had to fork out for one of them. Haha

KP NT, just buys the best reel you can afford mate. If you like Shimano buy Shimano. It like Toyota VS Nissan or Ford VS Holden how do you pick a winner.

I think you are comparing a entry level Daiwa with a mid range Shimano. Check out the fream or caldia as they a closer comparision.

I reckon you be happy with the stradic...

I've got a Stradic Ci4 2500 and a Fireblood 2500. For half the price the Stradic is a fantastic reel. Don't get me wrong, the Fireblood is better, but not twice as good.
You won't regret it if you go for the Stradic, about the best value for money going around.

I voted for the Stradic but if you are serious about it I would go the Stella. The drag is waaaaay better and something that is never mentioned about the Stellas is the fact that there are rubber (nitrile maybe?) seals to protect the bearings at the points where water is known to get in on the cheaper reels. I have the 3000 and a 5000 and couldn't be happier with both. Once you use a Stella you won't want to use anything else I have a Certate as well and it feels rough in comparison. In all fairness though my mate has an exist and it is one hell of a reel also.

I have the ci4 3000, its a cracker of a reel and can handle solid fish, use it for snapper down here (vic) and does it with ease. bought mine from the states and saved $80 too, our dollar is good atm.

Ive got a CI4 4000 and it is a nice little reel - only had it out a handful of times but have landed a couple of healthy 90cm+ barra with it. Drag is nice and smooth andits surprisingly powerful for teh size/weight.

Thanks everyone just went down the local tackle store and got a price for a 2500 stella and its not as bad as i thought it would be price wise so i might save up for one, ill probly have this rod and reel set up for years so i might as well get the best straight up.
As for the rod ill be using fuji K series titanium guides and fuji reel seat, just think how much fun it would be to land a 20 kg mack or a gt on 2 kg

just be aware the 2500 stella is a "fresh water" reel.
they do a range of fresh water reels and salt water reels.
