CrabFest 2007

Post by BarraBeast »

Hit Woods Inlet this arvo, minimal effort and great results using a new secret weopon crab bait 8-)

pots in at 1500 and out at 1800, 9 chunky crabs, mostly Bucks, yahooo!

The 'resident' croc I posted photo of in a previous post is up to his old tricks again. Same location he showed up again and yet again he took off with a pot but this time severing the rope. :fubird: (ps croc always get blamed for bad knots)The thing is it was along a stretch where we got most of the big crabs and we just knew there was a few in the lost pot, oh well 5 of the bucks were mega crabs, gotta be happy with that!

Found a new trick to see if there's barra along the banks. Charge along on the plane as close to the steep banks you can get to, and watch them jump like crazy in the wake. Couldn't believe how many there were, but take a lure, no way Jose'.

Yes Moonie, I left the Captain Morgan at home this time. :P Funny how disaster is less of a magnet to me when the boat is dry.

it was strange to see little strings tied on the pot flaps, would have been another 3 minutes work for some poor bugger at the pot factory. Maybe I was sabbotaged! The tackle shop guy is a double agent for the tree huggin hippies! :naughty:

Happiness is a couple of stonker sized bucks in the pot then you pull it up, 8-) 8-) I do suspect that from recent trips this year that the old Scylla Serrata are dormant in the wee hours of the morning, even on a incomming tide.

what do you mob think about that wild idea?

anyway the word is the Muddies are on the March in big numbers in the harbour at the mo  From the spread of pots I laid they are congregating deep into the creek systems.

I think he may be safe now that the Slapper is sold. He was looking a little 'endangered' for a little while there though.
