Awesome job, do you have any more photos or plans of the deck extension? Looks like a great idea!

Theo,
As mentioned the idea originally came from Swoffa (Warren), I just took a good idea and ran with it, will post some more detailed pics soon.

Re: Finally "finished"
Here are some photos of the deck for you Theo, it drops into the existing seat mounting holes to hold it in place and give it support. It is also a very snug fit to keep it in place, as you can see the gunnel edges have a lip to fix the extension at the correct height. If you are serious about building one you are welcome to come around for a look.

Had the opportunity to see this in the flesh. Quality work, and some serious comfort on the padded casting deck. Very neat, well thought out and practical - but no surprise there as anyone who has had a reel serviced by John through North Shore Reel Services can attest to.

Re: Finally "finished"
Thanks for the plug Kingsley, the padding is definately a good thing.
Craig, I did each of the mods separately with fishing in between but I would think 10 solid days all up of actual work with a fair bit more nutting out time with a tape measure and some bourbon. The extra hatches for the tackle lockers took alot of extra time as did figuring out/installing the padding. That probably doubled the build time on the deck and had me wondering if it was worth it at the time. Starting from scratch on the rod locker build and removing the existing side pocket to be able to fit a lower profile pocket and hence four rods on the door instead of three also took a large chunk of time. The extension was quick at half a day once a design was nutted out. It's been alot of work but I think the end result has justified the extra work involved.
Cheers,
John.
