Anyone using a Webster Twinfisher up north.

Post by Not Guilty »

G'day,
Does anyone have a Webster Twinfisher up north??? What are they like?? I thought one of these may be a good compromise for estuary and offshore and anything from the 4.3 centre console to the 5 metre. What do you think?? If the tide goes out at least you are going to sit flat!!!

Saw one on the Daly once a few years ago, about the only one i've seen up this way. I always thought they might be a good compromise too, most reviews i've read on them seem OK. They just don't seem to have found a niche here, maybe cos there's no dealer in town?

One of the FFF blokes had one and hated it. (southy)

I spent an afternoon in one chasing tuna in the chop and was most impressed. Rode wet but no worse than a long boat  . At least it was fast and had a soft landing in the nasty weather we were having.

Was on my short list of suitable boats. The 5.2 version would be a weapon with a 100hp 4stroke on the back end. Lots of deck space.

I have had a lot of experience in twin hulled tinnies.
Owned one for 15years. (home made 4.8m & 90 honda)
My brother has a 5m cairns custom craft cat with a 115 suzie on it.

They are wet but you cant beat the ride in rough water.

I had a ride in a Twinfisher down the Daly & it was good in a straight line but damn scary around corners. If you push too hard it would definatly fall over & at a moderate pace too.

The cairns craft is a bit more stable but you still have to be carefull.

My old girl was a tunnel hull as apposed to a cat & could corner well.

They all are a hell of a lot smother riding in the chop.
Smile, be happy & go fishing.

Work is getting in the way of my fishing.
My boss says fishing is getting in the way of my work.
I will soon fix both of our problems by quitting.

I owned a webster for a number of years and would never ever have another one... :titanic: :titanic: :titanic: :titanic:

Was a pig of a thing in a following sea always cavitaiting and would have to be the wetest boat on the market or very close to it... :bricks: :bricks: :bricks: :bricks:

They just havent got the dynamics right of running a single motor on a twin hull, to much turbulence with the water running between the hulls so there is always air around the prop causing it to slip...... :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

They would suit lake or river fishing only IMHO...but good luck with what ever you decide Not Guilty..

I know three mates up here in Darwin that have owned them one smaller one about 4.5 mtr and two of the bigger ones 5mtrs.

They get along good but are definately the wettest boats I've ever been in. The other annoying thing is when you are ancored up in a bit of slop the water hitting the bottom on the hull drives you bad.

Good river boat.
A mans boat is a sign of his strengths and weaknesses???? (and wealth)
