Re: up awesome creek with a minn kota
...and can someone tell me why the elcho mob got awesome creek while we got stuck with "poor creek", "moderate creek" and "only on the right tide with the right bait under a quarter waning moon with gossamer thin trace and a good luck rabbits foot creek" ???????
Its not a crisis unless there is blood around.

Fished a creek like that near Nhulunbuy, the bloke said "hardly anyone fishes here", and two minutes later I pulled in a bird's nest of mono with three lures in it.
Bit different at Elcho tho, ya lucky bugger.

Re: up awesome creek with a minn kota
i went back to awesome creek today
i hooked 2 fish in the first couple of casts but lost both of them at the boat so i got my poop together
and landed the next fish
i landed another 6 in the next few hours.
then i caught a largish estuary cod, it is about now that i should mention that i forgot to
stick my fishing pliers in the boat, and as i was getting the lure out of its gob
the bladdy thing flipped around and hooked me. frig it sucks being attached to
one end of a lure while a 4 or 5kg cod is flapping on the other end.
haha i handle broken bones ok but i am not very good with blood.
heading home i had to pull up and lay on the floor for a little while
because i could feel myself passing out
anyway it took me 3 hours to get back to where i left the trailer and thankfully
my mrs was there wondering why it was taking me so long so she took me to the clinic.
i got my mrs to take some photos cos i though you lot might get a laugh out off it.
there mustn't be much on telly as about 50 kids came for a look
haha it felt awesome when it came out.

Re: up awesome creek with a minn kota
Were they barbless hooks? Should have come out pretty easy?
I'd be keepin that creek location very quite, but I think I can analyse the mangrove leaves and in relation to the height of the clouds in the background I should be able to successfully pinpoint your exact location to within 3.75meters...
Some good fish ya pulled out of there.

Fishing in the top end isn't just a matter of life or death, it's much much more serious than that.

Ahh dam.. Oh well good experience for you anyway!
That reminds me.. I better squash some more of my barbs... The amount of lures I buy I cant keep up.

Nice work Sheps,
Don't worry your not alone, I went very pale when I got a treble in my thumb a few years ago,
Mine was a Murry Cod though.
