rescue
That really is medal material, good work Harmsy and crew.
Makes you wonder about the police effort though, they could have fired up their new $500 000 dollar toy and got out there in no time.
again GOOD WORK!!

This thread has got me thinking that if i have anything like that happen, and I am lucky enought to have phone reception I had better plug the AMSA RCC number in my phone ;
Rescue Coordination Centre (RCC) 24 Hour emergency contact numbers:
1800 641 792 (Maritime)
and let them do the co-ordination from Canberra.
We have a AMSA base right here in Darwin for the last 12 months with a Dornier 328, plus crew on 24hr standby for rescues like this incident. Also they can send other aviation assets like Coastwatch over to search if no AMSA platform is available.
talk about finding a needle in haystack good work.
You are lucky to have phone reception out there at the best of times, my 3G has limited reception at the rock and only very broken - new Next G phone on order.
