MET maps show monsoon trough around NT.

CQ hasn't had any of the rain that has been spread around the southern Qld/northern NSW coastline.

Rocky's had 13mm so far in Dec (and 11.5 mm of that was a single shower in early Dec).

What La Nina?

BOM Weekly Tropical Climate Note - 15 December 2020 Next issue 22 December 2020

Monsoonal conditions to strengthen across northern Australia

"After the first burst of monsoonal weather across Australia last week, a monsoon trough which formed off the northwest of Australia recently dissipated. Current atmospheric conditions are favourable for the redevelopment of a monsoon trough across northern Australia in the coming week. The main focus of monsoonal conditions near the Australian region is currently well to the east of the country, associated with severe tropical cyclone Yasa, east of Vanuatu. While Yasa is not expected to move near Australia, it is likely that a monsoon trough in the vicinity of Yasa will extend westwards in the coming week, across the Gulf of Carpentaria and into the Timor Sea, to the north of Australia. This could lead to the establishment of a broad monsoon flow across northern Australia, and potentially the official onset of the Australian monsoon at Darwin."

Not sure how much rain we got here in Marlow Lagoon last night but it hammered down all night. And with Noonamah getting over 170mm, pretty sure we got a lot of that too

We sure got dumped upon in CQ from the predicted drenching. 3 mm over 2 days and now gone.

Pity it didn't hang around for another 3-4 days. We might have gotten another 2 mm.

That's now 16 mm this December. Lucky us.

Good thing that La Nina is working so well.

Where did that screenshot of your's come from, Ninja?

Click the option ‘Rivers and Rainfall’ down the bottom of the BOM radar page Ron or the below link and tap an area.

Haven’t checked the average yet but reckon we’ll beat Decembers.

1700 hrs today..

Thanks Ninja but it only shows a couple of places like that in NT/Qld.

Darwin and Katherine in the NT along with Townsville and greater Brisbane in SE corner.

Be good if more areas were like that though.
