Any chance Shady will be open by Monday? Such a popular spot, you would think with this break in the weather they would have all hands on deck repairing it? But knowing Parks and Wildlie (under their control?) it could be weeks.

Heard it's going to be worked on friday morning with heaps of rocks and gravel. Just in time for the neaps.

I hope so. I've been considering a trip around from Buffalo Creek but I know it's not going to be great traveling weather. Especially the trip back on Wednesday

What's the trip around like Lats? I have a few days booked in at the Botel in March, I know the road should be open by then but I do not have a 4wd available. I have launched with and retrieved with the commodore before when the barrage has plenty of water coming over but it's pretty sketchy.

I think if the monsoon is present and the westerlies are blowing the trip back is going to suck. Obviously, I need to time my coming and going with Buff creek tides. What is Cape Hotham like to travel around?

I've never done the trip but Hotham can be really rough. Really stands up out there sometimes. I personally wouldn't be using that Shady ramp in anything but a 4wd. There are some really soft patches at the moment

Thanks Lats. I am not keen on doing the ramp in the commodore again. Only did it once, water up to the door sills, only just got enough traction to pull the boat out. Hence why I am considering going the short way around.

FFS Dannett, buy a fourby! You'd be insane to attempt the ocean run with the winds we've got at the moment. Not good for fishing the mouth either. I keep hoping they will ease, but every day blowing 20. :banghead:
